Meet Cecilia
Cecilia Ayot is a teacher, mother, and advocate for education. She grew up in Kibera, where life was shaped by poverty, social pressure, and a lack of opportunity. Like many girls in her community, Cecilia became a mother as a teenager. That meant leaving school, facing stigma, and trying to move forward without support.
Why She Started St. Martin’s
Cecilia founded St. Martin’s School together with other teenage mothers. They wanted to create a place where children in difficult situations would still have a chance to learn. The school welcomes orphans, children from single-parent homes, and girls who have dropped out of school. No child is turned away because of their background.
For Cecilia, the school is about restoring dignity and offering hope. She has worked with NGOs, local government, and other partners to help build classrooms, provide scholarships, and support children who would otherwise be left behind.
What She Believes
Cecilia believes that every child has potential. She knows how hard it is to stay in school when you’re carrying adult responsibilities. That’s why she focuses not only on lessons, but also on mentorship, emotional support, and community involvement.
“No child should be denied an education because of pregnancy or poverty.”
— Cecilia Ayot
Why We Support Her
We support St. Martin’s because of the work Cecilia and her team are already doing. They know what their students are going through, and they show up for them every day. By raising funds and awareness, our goal is to make sure this school can keep doing what it does best: giving children in Kibera a chance to stay in school and shape their future.
